UC Davis: From Labs To Lives campaign

selected works

In the wake of the federal government's suspension of over $500 million in UCLA research funding, along with a demand for a $1 billion settlement, vital federal research funding entered a period of unprecedented vulnerability. Congress has been considering devastating cuts to several federal science agencies that fund global university research - the impact of which would be catastrophic.
The award-winning UC Davis From Labs to Lives campaign highlights the real-world impact on at risk, federally-funded research. Through my Life Without UC Davis Research series I adapted complex scientific research findings across topics in children's and community health, agriculture, energy and environment, heart health, alzheimer's and brain health, cancer, technology, and curative medicine.
My goal: translate complex academic findings through conversational short-form video content to communicate the daily impact of innovative university research findings and increase support for federal research funding.

Each spring, the UC Davis Strategic Communication social media team enters the "yield cycle": a period of time between admission decisions are released and the Statement of Intent to Register due date (March-May). Our goal is to highlight the "Davis difference" and show admitted students why they should say #Yes2UCDavis. The Aggie Tradition series tells the story of UC Davis traditions and iconic Davis spots.
My goal: Communicate what makes Davis special and encourage prospective students to commit to attending UC Davis.
UC Davis offers over 100 undergraduate majors across the four colleges: Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Engineering, and Letters and Science. The UC Davis social media Majors in a Minute series uses student stories to showcase the whole-picture perspective on student life, coursework, and extracurricular opportunities across fields of study for prospective students.
Using UC Davis style guides, branded fonts and colors, and in collaboration with UC Davis Strategic Communication social media, visual communication, and marketing professionals I made a wide variety of static, short, and long-form content for official UC Davis social media accounts.
I proposed, brainstormed, filmed, edited, and wrote copy for hundreds of social media posts. I have 3+ years of experience doing social media marketing work for a in-house higher-education strategic communication team. Here is a glimpse into the product of some of my work.
The Outdoor Crew
Community partnerships

Here are some of the companies and organizations we partnered with either for an event or product promotion. Building a consistent brand image allowed our organization to build a professional network and position ourselves in our immediate community, and in the outdoor adventure community.
I represented The Outdoor Crew Davis , the largest student organization at UC Davis with 650+ members. I planned and led camping and hiking trips to national and state parks across California with 80+ participants per trip. I managed $15,000+ funds, coordinated local fundraisers, merchandise orders, our social media presence, and managed event-day logistics.
Our organizations goal: Make being active in the outdoors accessible to all college students regardless of experience level. We organize trips, carpools, and community events for any and all UC Davis undergraduate students.

I worked on a 40-person student team to plan and operate the annual Whole Earth Festival: a free, zero waste, student-run arts, advocacy, & music festival that brings in 30,000+ attendees annually.
